
The upcoming event aims to explore the intersection of gender equality and environmental sustainability. Organized by UN Habitat, TSF UrbaNature and CLAFG, The Geneva Consensus Foundation. The event be held at the United Nations Office in Geneva on the 17th of March 2025 at the United Nations in Geneva from 13:00 till 14:45 CET.
Location : Building H, Amphitheatre H200 at the UN. Please register in advance and bring your passport.
Objectives:
• Highlight women’s roles in sustainability and their unique contributions to environmental stewardship.
• Assess global and local progress on women’s rights, identifying both achievements and ongoing challenges.
• Promote gender equality as essential to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Key Themes:
• Women’s Influence on Sustainability : Explore studies suggesting women’s active involvement in sustainable practices and explore whether this is due to inherent traits or socio-cultural factors.
• Current State of Women’s Rights : Examine global progress and setbacks in women’s rights, emphasizing how securing these rights enhances community resilience and productivity.
• Integrating Gender Equality into Sustainability : Discuss how gender equality is intertwined with various SDGs and explore practical ways to implement gender-responsive sustainability policies.
Event Highlights :
17th March 2024 Round Table Panels : Panels will include experts, discussing women’s roles in sustainability, the status of women’s rights, and integrating gender equality into sustainability agendas.
Communications Strategy : the events will be promoted via social media campaigns, email newsletters, press releases, and an event teaser video, aiming to engage a diverse audience of UN delegates, NGOs, environmental activists, and the public. The goal is to inspire action, encourage policy discussions, and foster global partnerships that amplify women’s roles in shaping a sustainable future.
